So, what is it you do?

I help you, that’s what I do. Every job is different so it’s hard to be prescriptive. My services page talks a bit more to this but for ease of reading, I’ve bullet pointed some of my most common requests.

  • Copywriting. That’s to say, I write your words. It might be web content, it might be EDMs, it might be an end of financial year report. When I know what you’re after, I’ll find the words in which to communicate it

  • Editing and proofing. You’ve written your words, you need someone to look through them. Sometimes a light touch edit is all that’s needed, picking up the odd typo, rewording some AI phrasing and sometimes a bit more is needed. Suggestions, rewrites, reordering, rephrasing: I’ve done it, I do it.

  • Media engagement. You’ve got news or a story and you want the world (or maybe just your community) to know about it. You’ve come to the right place.

I love a challenge. Some of the most rewarding work is when I’m thrown something I’ve not done before or I’m working with an industry I’ve to worked with before. If I know what needs doing and what needs saying, I’ll get it done.

Get in touch. I work with clients around the world so I”m very flexible with times to talk. It’s helpful for me to know as much as possible about what you’re after before we speak but, equally, the first step can be just as much about personality as getting into the weeds of the work. Let’s talk and go from there.

Why you and not AI?

Ah, the $60 million question. Because I’m human. I can test you, you can test me and during the conversations, ideas can come up. Yes, this can all be done with your favourite LLM, but think about interactions in your life. How many times have you and your friends started a conversation, ended up in a completely different direction and have put the world to rights along the way? It’s been like this for millennia and while I’m not slating technological advances, this is one component of society that isn’t broken. I work fast and I work alone so I’m the one who’ll be getting into what you need. I won’t pass it along to someone else, I’ll be your person. Your real person. I may not be available 24/7 like Claude is, but isn’t that a good thing?

Do you use AI?

Another goodie. I do not write with AI. Do I use it? Yes. For research, on occasion, with all sources verified. I don’t take anything at face value, I’ll question everything.
I have clients who have sent me their AI generated content to rework and reword. I can do this AI adjacent work but, to be honest, it’s often more time consuming than if I’d started from scratch.
